Yesterday Samuel was eating lunch when he yawned a huge yawn. I said to him "Are you sleepy?" and he said "NO!" I said "Are you lying?" and he said "Roarrrrrrr"

The Condiment Kid

Anyone who has ever eaten a meal with me knows that I don't really like most condiments like mayonaise, ketchup, mustard, etc... Samuel has obviously not inherited this trait from me since he has decided he loves ALL condiments. He hasn't quite figured out how they work though and wants to eat them by themselves (he would love it if we gave him a whole plate of ketchup.) In the picture above he is eating sour cream as fast as we would give it to him. He kept signing and saying "more! more!" And that's all he wanted to eat - nothing dipped in the sour cream, nothing on the side, just plain old sour cream by the spoonful (actually, by the handful.)

Happy Happy Boy Boy

Ever since Samuel got to play with Tristan's little car back in April, he has wanted one of these cars so badly. We'd be out walking in the stroller and he'd see one in someone else's yard and say "car! car!". Ernie and I knew we had to get one for him. We didn't exactly coordinate our efforts, though, and ended up with 2 (I bought one at a garage sale at the exact moment Ernie was ordering one online.) So now we have 2 cozy coupe cars! Samuel is in heaven. We're eventually going to give one of the cars to his cousin Lilly, but for now he has one in the garage and one in the house to play with.

Here is Samuel in a little outfit that makes him look like a wrestler. It's fitting because if he ever finds you laying on the ground on your stomach, he immediately gets onto your back and starts jumping on you.

Little Shaver

I read about this activity on the web: spray a bunch of shaving cream on the table and put out things like plastic animals, small cars, etc... Let your toddler have fun exploring the new texture (and get very messy in the process!). The nice thing was that this cleaned up very easily with just water. Samuel had a ball!

Mealtime Fun

Here are a few pictures of Samuel at the dinner table - in the first one he is thoroughly enjoying a piece of pizza. The second pictures is of him saying cheers. He likes to click his cup to ours during dinner and say cheers, but this was the first time we had seen him use 2 of his own cups before.

In the top picture he has the salt and pepper shakers on his placemat. Last night he was content to just shake them. Tonight he figured out how to open them - something I found out when I saw about 1/2 cup of pepper in his bowl and heard him saying "whatsat? whatsat?"

High Chair Rebellion

All of a sudden Samuel hates sitting in his high chair. He wants to sit at the table like a big boy. However, he is too small and is always sliding around on the chair and we were afraid he would fall and get hurt. (We kept saying "be careful, we don't want you to fall" and he would respond "no fall" - it was very cute.) To help him out, I bought a little booster seat for him and it came in the mail today. It's called a Cooshie and he seems to like it a lot (here he is sitting in it on the floor, but he actually ate dinner in it at the table tonight.) I like this booster seat because there are no little nooks or crannies for crumbs to get stuck in. And, as anyone who has ever fed anything to a toddler knows, there are so many crumbs (or pieces of food intentionally thrown off the high chair) at the end of each meal.

House Pictures

Here are some pictures of the inside of our house. We are working on upacking everything and have not yet hung up any pictures, but this should give you an idea of the inside of our new house.

Here is our living room:

Here is our kitchen, and the breakfast nook in between the living room and the kitchen:

Here is the entry way and the dining room:

Here is our bedroom and 2 pictures of our master bathroom (double sinks and a whirlpool tub!)

We will try to take some more pictures and post them later this week. Samuel's room currently has some very cute (for a girl) flowered wallpaper so we will be changing that at some point and will post pictures of his room after that. To make up for his flowered wallpaper, though, he inherited an awesome swingset and sandbox from the original house owners.

Settling In

We have been in our new house in Fort Wayne for about 2 weeks now. So far we like it a lot. Moving with a toddler has been quite a challenge, though. I feel like we will be done unpacking all of our boxes around Halloween.

Leaving Colorado, Samuel and I flew to South Bend to stay with Meg, Pete and Lilly for a few days, rather than make the long drive. Here are some pictures of Samuel helping Lilly take a drink, play with her playhouse, and make himself at home in Meg's kitchen.
Pictures of our new house to follow soon!
